Me...

I have been looking at a variety of cultures and I realized   that this was too broad and it needed to be narrowed down.  After I visited a few galleries and Exhibitions I noticed something they were all linked with one culture , the African textile show was only Africa and the Japanese Ceramic Exhibition was just on the Japanese culture, so  it came to me that why not represent my cultures and backgrounds through patterns. The Traditional Eastern patterns are something that has already been seen and I wanted  to create something different and fresh so I thought of the idea to re create Eastern patterns to fit in with the times of now in a western society through digital manipulation.

BUILDING UP THE STUDIO SPACE

Exploring with African patterns , I created a painting with wax and paint and then step and repeated it in Photoshop...my first repeated surface pattern.

Paintings I did exploring with stenciling, spray painting ,collage and wax resistant paint..These first painting were influenced by African culture and Japanese culture

Experimenting with different techniques and creating different textures , sponge printing spray painting using dollies and using black backgrounds with bright colours..

Building up research..
